Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) is a holistic healing art.
Using age-old yogic and modern therapeutic approaches to deepen awareness and presence, PRYT Practitioners are able to help others accept themselves more fully. Out of this acceptance clients are more easily moved to embrace the opportunity for change, growth and enhanced wellbeing in body, mind, emotions and spirit.
A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session is a lot like being in a talk therapy session while you are on a yoga mat, doing yoga postures!
I sometimes use my hands to assist you in the postures, you tell me what is too much pressure or if you want to go deeper in the pose. If you have ever had Thai Massage, it’s a similar physical experience and it’s unbelievably satisfying. This is because of the dialog that is occurring during the postures. The dialog basically consists of me asking you what you are experiencing in your body while in the pose, as you describe it to me, I reflect it back to you. Sounds pretty simple right? What often is revealed in this process is a clear expression and understanding about what you need to do about the problems you have in your life.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is also an experiential and introspective process that allows clients to explore the connection between what’s happening in their bodies and what’s happening in their life. One-to-one PRYT sessions combine practitioner assisted stretches and a variety of yoga-like postures along with an open-ended dialogue process that is non-directive of outcome.
The Practitioner facilitates an experience for clients to notice what is happening in the present moment and as things show up – physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually – there is an opportunity to explore the bigger picture of how that may affect their everyday life. Whether that life and body connection appears at work, at play, in family, and in relationships. The mission of PRYT is to support people moving in the direction of a life worth living – a purpose driven and meaningful life experience with less stress and anxiety and with fulfilling work and relationships.
