Shambhava Yoga™ Teacher Training

We believe that yoga teacher training should be a life-changing experience. One of the first yoga schools in America, Shambhava Yoga has always emphasized that becoming a great teacher means becoming a great student. You do not just learn how to teach yoga here, you learn how to deepen your practice and grow.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

​Asana (yoga poses)

We teach in both the Hatha and Vinyasa style. We offer you variations to create different “levels”: faster or slower, more athletic or more gentle classes. This versatility enables you to develop your personal style, deliver the type of class you wish to teach while meeting your students needs.

​Assists & Modifications

You will learn many ways to assist your students personally including hands on assists, how to use props, responsive cueing, mirroring and more!

​Yogic Philosophy & Meditation

Shambhava Yoga has a strong meditative focus. You will learn many time tested practices to serve your growth personally and as a teacher. We discuss many philosophy topics including the yamas, niyamas, Yoga Sutras, the mind, the heart, the breath, and the interconnectedness of traditions.

​Anatomy & Physiology

Pictures, videos and hands on demonstrations all complement the asana instruction to gain deeper understanding of how yoga postures affect our human anatomy and physiology.

​Pranayama (breathing techniques)

Breath plays a vital role in regulating our physiology, mental state, emotions, and the ability to be present and focused. You will learn how to practice and teach 10 different pranayama techniques to deepen your understanding of breath’s role in yoga and wellness.

​Teaching Methodology

Learn how to cue effectively, create sequences and classes, integrate themes, incorporate neutralizing poses, be inclusive and welcoming, build clientele and more! We include a variety of teaching exercises to put our discussions into action and build your confidence and ability to teach.

​Sanskrit

Learn the history of the Sanskrit language, basic pronunciation principles, pose names and the translation of common words in yoga.

Special Populations Yoga

We discuss and practice specialty styles of yoga. You’ll develop a foundation to understand and meet the needs of various demographics of students. You’ll be able to incorporate restorative and inclusive yoga into your classes. You may discover a passion you can pursue more through additional training.

Learn ways to navigate your life’s dreams. Our team of experienced yoga educators share what they’ve learned over the years in yoga, business, and living the life you want. This includes ideas on where to gain opportunities to teach, what qualities you’ll want to demonstrate and how to present yourself.

Here’s what we offer that is extra special:

Overnight Yoga Retreat

Shambhava Yoga Shoshoni is located about 2 hours from Denver in the beautiful Indian Peak Mountains, in Rollinsville, CO. A magnificent yoga retreat and ashram, you’ll experience the sweetness of yogic living at its finest. Cost is determined by season, tbd.

​Daylong Yoga Retreat

Shambhava Yoga Eldorado is located about an hour from Denver, in Eldorado Springs, CO, just south of Boulder, CO. A relatively short journey to an impressively, beautiful location, you’ll enjoy kirtan, meditation and the time honored tradition of satsang (spiritual Q&A).

​Field Trip to Denver Art Museum

Susan, our lead instructor loves taking her students here to the 5th floor of the Denver Art Museum to the Asian Art Exhibit. You’ll learn history about how the names of the yoga postures came to be and be introduced to the ancient Hindu Deities. Susan tells stories that open your heart and will bring your yoga experience to another level. Our grads say this is one of their favorite days of training!

Kirtan Class

Led by Mira Devi, who has been leading Kirtan locally in CO for over 20 years! You’ll get to learn about chanting and why we chant and how it can transform and heal your heart. Mira will show you how yogic music(chanting and kirtan) relaxes your mind in preparation for a deeper and more meaningful meditation.

Meditation Intensive

You’ll experience a day of silence during your training. Learn to use techniques to still your mind and go deeply inside. Unplug yourself from your mobile device for an entire day to rest your senses. Learn walking meditation and more.

Shambhava Yoga Teacher Training Manual

The culmination of 30 years of trainings and hundreds of years of combined experience. It captures the heart and mind of yoga and will be a continual resource to you for inspiration and knowledge for years to come.

Students who would like to attend more classes receive a discount off class packages.

​Mentorship

You’ll be paired up with your own mentor! A mentorship in yoga is a special opportunity to learn under the guidance of an experienced yoga instructor. You’ll meet with your mentor several times throughout your training and are given the opportunity to discuss your questions and get feedback.

Our students love this unique opportunity to have an experienced staff of yoga teachers who make themselves available to them in our teacher training program.

Who’ll be instructing

Susan Bhat, E-RYT-500

Susan has been a devoted practitioner of yoga, meditation, and chanting since May 1, 2009. In addition to 5 years of attending teacher trainings and teaching public classes to become a Registered Teacher Training Instructor with the Yoga Alliance, Susan was mentored through the rigorous process of becoming a lead trainer in the Shambhava School of Yoga. Susan exceeds in all aspects of being an excellent leader, who is well respected by her community. Her students feel safely guided and inspired as she facilitates the experience of becoming a certified yoga teacher and more, in this program.

Finally, our class cancellation policy

If no materials have been received, cancellation fee will be calculated as the greater sum of $300 or 15% of the total course cost.

If materials have been received, then the deposit of $500 will be deducted prior to the refund calculation.

Withdrawal after first day onsite will be pro-rated at $12 per hour of tuition for classes attended.
