Satya Larrea, CMT, CYT, ERYT* - Director
Satya is the co-owner and director of Shambhava Whole Yoga School.
She has been studying yoga since 1993. With the guidance of her teacher,
His Holiness Rishi Maha Mandaleshwar Sri Shambhavananda, she has been
pursuing a spiritual practice including
meditation, hatha yoga, selfless service(seva), sanskrit chanting, and
Ayurveda for over 8 years. Six of those years she spent living a yogic
lifestyle in an ashram setting.
Satya is a very popular instructor in Boulder and Denver -- a "yoga teacher's teacher."
She has passion for her own Hatha practice and trains yoga instructors at the Shambhava
School of Yoga. She is funny, smart, and able to teach you many things.

Vajra (Mike) Kohm, RYT, CPT
Vajra Kohm is a respected physical therapist, the former medical director of Alpha Rehabilitation,
and co-owner of Whole Yoga School. He also trains yoga instructors for the Shambhava School of Yoga
in Boulder. His unique combination of knowledge of anatomy, knowledge of healing and knowledge of
yoga bring a special quality to his instruction.
He is a senior student of His Holiness Rishi Maha Mandaleshwar Sri Shambhavananda and
teaches meditation at Whole Yoga.

Karyn Karlson, RYT
Karyn Karlson is the Founder and former owner of Whole Yoga School. She has studied
and practiced yoga for 22 years and became certified to teach in 1997 through the Shambhava
School. She is a continuing student of yoga and meditation, working daily to advance and
deepen her own practice.
Karyn studies yoga with a variety of master instructors, with her greatest
influences and inspiration being the work of Erich Schiffmann, Barbara Benagh,
and the guidance of her meditation/life Teacher, His Holiness Rishi Maha Mandaleshwar
Sri Shambhavananda.

Jason Adam, RYT
Jason began practicing yoga in his early 20's as just another form of physical exercise.
After years of "losing and finding" yoga, always searching for something deeper, he came
across Whole Yoga in the summer of 2006 and has finally found his yogic home.
Jason has recently been delving deeper into the meditative aspects of yoga. He hopes to
teach students how hatha yoga can lead to a deeper sense of peace inside.

Sara, RYT
Sara is a massage therapist. She started doing yoga because she found that it
enabled her to remain flexible and strong for her work. She resonated with the
breath work (Pranayama) and uses these techniques to quiet her mind and relieve
anxiety. She became certified to teach Children's Yoga first and then hatha yoga
through the Shambhava School.
In her 12 years as a human services professional, she's watched people search so hard to find
happiness outside themselves. Through yoga she's learned that you only have to look inside to
find happiness.
Sara is skilled in helping students connect inside their bodies, and also uses her knowledge of
anatomy to teach. Her students say her classes are very joyful.

Monica, CYT
Monica graduated with a Master of Music degree from the University of Denver
and went straight into yoga training at the Shambhava School of Yoga. As a singer,
the use of breath is a familiar and important tool in helping her relate
to yoga. She provides her students with the same sense of refreshment and
connection to soul and body that she has found at Whole Yoga. Monica is a student
of H.H. Rishi Maha Mandeleshwar Sri Shambavananda.

Rosalie, RYT
Rosalie simply loves yoga. She began practicing yoga during high school at the YMCA
in Casper, Wyoming, and in college she continued to attend yoga classes and dabble in
meditation. She found that yoga helped her connect to her body in a way that brought
calmness to her mind. In 2004, Rosalie became certified to teach yoga through the
Shambhava School. Since then, she has been continually energized, excited and motivated
by her students and by her own yoga practice.
During class, Rosalie draws on her experience as a massage therapist and visual artist.
Her focus is on solid physical alignment, which protects the musculoskeletal system, and
on bringing each student to an awareness of the creative self that dwells in everyone.
She is deeply grateful for her opportunity to interact in a caring way with the sweet
students and staff at Whole Yoga.

Carol Sullivan, RYT
Carol studied at Shambhava School of Yoga and is in her twelfth year as a
yoga practitioner. She holds a doctorate in literature and likes to search
in yoga, writing, and literature for "the poise of the soul." She has a gift
for communicating the intelligence and the beauty of yoga and meditation to
her students.
Carol has been a state legislator, college professor, high school teacher,
journalist, and published author. One of her favorite quotes about yoga practice
comes from Swami Shambhavanada, who states, "The breath comes in, you expand, and
the energy soaks in."

Andrea Silver, RYT
Andrea is passionate about teaching yoga to people who
aren't pretzels. Her 25 years of Yoga and Meditation are the wellspring from
which her joy, spirituality and playfulness flow.
Andrea teaches yoga from the inside out. She views asana practice as a way
to deepen connection with inner wisdom, as well as a vehicle for developing physical
strength and flexibility. Andrea is also a counselor, mentor, and Laughter Yoga leader. |

Kamala Viecelli, RYT, CMT
Kamala is one of the instructors for the Whole Yoga teacher training. She
has been a yoga practitioner for 11 years and received certification
from the Shambhava School of Yoga in 2000. She was a resident of the Shoshoni
Yoga Retreat ashram and one of the faculty teacher trainers for the Shambhava
School for four years.
Kamala is a popular instructor and teaches many
classes each week all over the North Metro and Boulder areas.
Kamala brings the same creativity to her yoga as her other endeavors - she is one of
the lead vocalists in the band Shiva's Garden, which played at a recent Yoga Journal
Estes Park retreat; a massage therapist; and, when she is not on the mat, you will most
likely find her in her pottery studio.

Naomi, CYT
A serious student of modern dance throughout her youth and early adulthood, Naomi
came to yoga in middle age to continue to enjoy moving her body even while dealing with
chronic neck, shoulder and back pain. She quickly found that the value of a regular
yoga practice went beyond pain relief to enhance her life in ways she hadn’t previously
imagined. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to deepen her practice through a
teacher training at the Whole Yoga Shambhava School. A long time philosophy professor,
Naomi loves to teach and, since she loves yoga, she is delighted to get to share her love
of yoga with the Whole Yoga community. |

Brahmani, (Melisa Kotecki Schlote) RYT
Brahmani began practicing yoga in 2000 because of job-related stress and lower back problems.
Yoga helped her slow down, de-stress and now her back pain is almost non-existent.
She became a certified yoga instructor through the Shambhava School of Yoga in 2004
and is one of the instructors of Whole Yoga’s Teacher Training program.
Her yoga classes emphasize uniting breath and movement, using breath as a tool to release
tension and aid in increasing flexibility. She infuses her classes with her pure
enjoyment and excitement of yoga.
Besides teaching yoga, Brahmani has had a long career in non-profit management,
counseling, case management and currently works full-time at a public relations firm.

Emi Shimura, RYT
Emi encountered yoga when she was in college and has since been studying and practicing
the art. She practiced yoga at local fitness clubs as a form of physical exercise for many
years. In time, she realized that yoga had a lot more to offer than just its physical aspects,
and now she enjoys those other aspects as well.
After receiving her certification from the Shambhava School of Yoga, she decided that she
wanted to share her knowledge and love of yoga and its benefits with others. She focuses on
harmonizing the body, breath and mind when she practices yoga. She believes yoga is for everybody,
and regular yoga practice will bring a healthy body and mind. Emi is also certified to teach
prenatal yoga.

Sue Khodarahmi, RYT
Sue found yoga in 1993, and she received her teaching certification from the
Shambhava School in 2009. Her classes are energetic and fun, with an emphasis on
core and upper-body strength and flexibility.

Oscar deCardenas, RYT
Oscar was introduced to yoga in the late '90s but practiced only briefly
before rediscovering yoga in 2008. Not having been athletic in his youth and
always finding working out to be a chore, Oscar feels completely 'at home'
with yoga. In addition to benefiting him physically, yoga has given him a greater
sense of inner awareness and peace. He deepened his practice by completing
teacher training programs for hatha yoga and meditation at Whole Yoga through
the Shambhava School. As a teacher, he hopes to foster a sense of self-discovery
among his students.

Martina, RYT
Martina has pursued a spiritual yoga practice since 2000 and received her
certification through Whole Yoga. She continues to pursue her practice through
the guidance of His Holiness Sri Shambhavananda and the Shambhava Yoga Community.
"As a Shambhava yoga teacher, I learned to teach from my heart by being taught from
the heart. I believe the best way to share this gift is by staying connected to my
true self and keeping my practice."
Martina is a triathlete and uses her yoga practice with a focus on pranayama to
create energy and endurance.

Lorie, RYT
Lorie began practicing yoga in 1997 when pregnant with her first child. She
soon found the restorative and spiritual benefits of a regular yoga practice.
Over the years she found that yoga enhanced her joyful times and helped her through
challenging ones.
In 2009, with a desire to deepen her own practice and share the joy and serenity of
yoga with others, Lorie received her certification to teach yoga from the Shambhava
School of Yoga.
Lorie believes that yoga is a gift you give yourself. She is drawn to the focus on
breathing and centering while practicing, but also enjoys a playful, dynamic practice.

Cristina, CYT
Cristina found yoga in 2005, attending many yoga classes until she
found one she liked. The instructor of this class took Cristina from the gym setting
to a yoga studio where Cristina found herself at peace. She decided to take
the teacher-training program at Whole Yoga and now enjoys teaching yoga to a variety of
students.
Cristina likes to teach a series of vinyasas in her classes and enjoys incorporating
different pranayama (breathing) techniques during class.

Nancy, CYT
Nancy began practicing yoga in her 40's after finding it gave her a greater
sense of peace and calmness. She teaches yoga to seniors and adults with
limited mobility at Northglenn Heights and became a certified yoga instructor
through the Whole Yoga training in 2009.
Nancy believes that, through regular yoga practice, adults of any age can enjoy
greater flexibility and range of motion as well as better emotional health and
a deeper connection to their spiritual self. She encourages her students
to accept themselves, their bodies and ageing with a gentle, centering
yoga experience.

Nalini, RYT
Nalini Eleanor Bystrom is on sabbatical to finish her masters in art in
Pennsylvania. She is a devoted student of His Holiness Rishi Maha Mandaleshwar
Sri Shambhavananda and very grateful to have grown up with yoga and meditation.
In 2001 Nalini founded the College Yoga Club at the University of Colorado at
Boulder and Denver, offering free classes to college students. In 2002 Nalini
became certified to teach yoga from the Shambhava School of Yoga. She also has
taught yoga as a "full time job", teaching over 15 classes weekly in Stockholm,
Sweden for almost two years.
Nalini enjoys working with people of all ages and loves to share her experience
of Yoga with others.

Maulik, RYT
Maulik is on sabbatical, living in the Philippines. We look forward to his
return!
Maulik grew up doing yoga in India, but left yoga behind as a teenager. He came
to the United States to study and stayed to work. As time went by, he
felt a longing for a spiritual practice and to return to his roots. He recently graduated from the Shambhava
Whole Yoga School as a certified yoga instructor.
Maulik decided to give to the community by offering
a class on Saturday afternoons by donation. All proceeds from this class will be donated to Brent's Place,
a local charity, which provides home away from home to children with life-threatening cancer, and their families.

Elizabeth, RYT
Elizabeth is taking a break from teaching to travel the world.
She was introduced to yoga in 1999 and has steadily continued her practice since then.
She lived seven months at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat where she learned about the roots of
yoga through the work-study program and received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification.
She enjoys teaching yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises) to encourage awareness and energy flow.
Her appreciation for alignment and balance makes her a great teacher to learn from as a beginner.
